Nice and Games — Harvey Wallbanger [Atari 8bit]

Another type-in game, this time from ANALOG magazine. Back in the 80s, the two biggest Atari magazines in the USA were Antic and ANALOG. Now, I didn’t have to type this game in, I got it on a disk from someone way back then. This game was written in machine language, so I wouldn’t have been able to type it in anyway (didn’t have the Atari assembler editor cart.) But no matter, this game is a fast-paced, action-packed arcade number collectathon! Or something! Run Harvey the rabbit around collecting numbers for points, all the while holding off ever encroaching walls by using your Wallbanger Gun. This is an extremely simple game to understand, but a blast to play!

  1. @niceandgames Please, may I direct you to find (for Mac OSX and Windows) the following game:

    Forget Me Not

Also for iPhone and Android. I love this little game. You might too!

  2. @cuttock Thanks! This game is about as simple as it gets, is lots of fun, and would be a great mobile game, or even an XBLA game. Or better yet a DSiWare game. As long as it doesn't get "improved" with lots of "features." 🙂

  3. Delightful looking and playing game. The genius of simplicity trumps the showy, bloated, cinematic junk that passes for games nowadays. That's what's so great about mobile games, the return to simplicity. Nice review.

  4. @RPKGameVids Definitely one of those kind of games that is super simple to understand and play, yet exciting and has that "OK, I'll give it just ONE more try" quality. 🙂

  5. @atarileaf lol Yeah, you never really new how good the game would be after all the effort of typing, but that just gave the whole process a feeling of excitement and anticipation! 🙂

  6. Poor bunny 🙁
I loved typing in games on my old coco. Spent many a weekend doing this. It was a big downer when the game sucked after you spent 2 hours typing it in though 😀

  7. @neoflynn Perhaps that's why the scientists put him in that room, they had to destroy the end result of their reckless experimentation. Some sort of cyborg rabbit/mathematician. 🙂

  8. @neoflynn Hmmm, well I suppose one of the good things about early game graphics is that they are open to interpretation! 🙂 But, if he does have super turds, they seem to be coming out the wrong side of his body. Oh! That's why they are super, they must have rockets or something. Or the poor rabbit has something very very wrong internally.

  9. @HalfBlindGamer Yep, crazy scientists have too much time on their hands and too many animals at their disposal. 🙂

  10. @austinmackert Yeah, it's a fun one! It's one of those games that might not get very long gaming sessions, but is always a blast for the short time it lasts. 🙂

  11. If the electrified walls don't kill that poor bunny he would probably die of sheer exhaustion from all that constant running, lol. Thanks for sharing this is a nice game that is simple to play and looks fun to play.

Looks like a fun game though.
Not sure what to think about someone being called wallbanger though, I get some weird associations with that lol.
