GameType: NES Fighting Games

GameType is a new feature I’ve been cooking up for a while now. It’s essentially a series of retrospectives that will attempt to catalog genres. Shooters on the PS2, RPGs on the SNES, Platformers on the Xbox, and so forth. To begin I’m going to take a look at fighting games on the NES including Joy Mech Fight, Punch-Out, Karateka, Karate Champ, Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu, Ring King, Tag Team Wrestling, WWF WrestleMania, Yie Ar Kung Fu, World Champ, Urban Champion, and Tenkaichi Bushi Keru Naguuru. Enjoy!

  1. hey Bro . Can you find this game: There was that NES game back in the day about kicking people in the head. the game was buggy and when the player dies it was flying to the sky with its 3rd leg bugged animation. it was scaring the shit out of me .
    thanks bro

  2. Im looking for a game. Its really rare and i dont the name. All I remember is you play with a character that looks like Bruce Lee. Black trousers and no shirt. Its a Japanese type fight game and the first stage or a stage is somewhere in the woods. At the end of each stage you fight a enemy and each enemy has a different fighting style. Has a really funky sound track.

  3. Bro,maybe u can help me.I had a game which intro was something like this: so you are a character dressed in red if i remember, and in front of you was one that was looking exactly like you but yellow, and u had to block his punch and put him down. And then the first round starts in a city and the first boss had a spikey jacket or armour i don t remember, and he used a ball with spikes.

  4. 6:34 Finally someone mention this game. I had it when i was a kid and i was about to think that it never existed and was just a dream.

  5. back in the day between 2002 and 2004 i believe, i had borrowed from my friend a pirate cartridge that had a street fighter style 1 vs 1 fighting game which i have forgot the name of, but it had only story mode in it. and you could only play as a blue suited guy. but it was not hokuto no ken, and: you could even continue with a password! if anybody of you can give me a hint which game it was i would be happy!

  6. 9:22 my fav
